EditPurpose
To define the courts and counties for all areas. You can edit existing courts and delete any unwanted courts. You have the ability to define the court closing time and your company deadline time.

The purpose of court maintenance is to allow you to keep track of all the courts you do business with or communicate with. You can define the courts in all counties in all states. Each court is assigned a code. The court codes are used when processing a work order.
EditView Court Codes
To view a list of court codes currently defined in LegalSuite, make the menu selection
Administration⇒System Codes⇒Court Maintenance from the navigation bar.

To view information regarding a specific court code, click on a code on the list. The Court Maintenance Details page will appear with details regarding that code. Refer to the section on
"Add a Court Code" for an explanation of each field displayed on that page.
EditAdd A New Court Code
To add a new court code, click on the ADD NEW ENTRY button on the Court Maintenance page.

All fields marked with an asterisk "*" are required. You cannot SAVE successfully until a value is specified in each of these fields.
There are 3 sections to the Court Maintenance Details page. The first part allows you to specify the court and its location.
1. Code* – Enter a code for the court. Click on the ADD button for a code to be automatically generated.
2. Name* – Enter the name of the court which will be associated with the court code.
3. Court* – Select a court from the pull-down menu, either Federal or State.
4. Court Type* – Select the type of court this code is for, for example bankruptcy court.etc.
5. State* - Select the state in which the court resides.
6. County* - Select the county in which the court resides.
7. Jurisdiction * – Specify the jurisdiction of this court, in other words, the territory or limits within which this court’s authority can be exercised.
8. Address*, City*, Zip Code* – Enter the postal address of the court.
The next section of the Court Maintenance Details page has to do with the area in which the court resides and fee information for that court.

9. Area * – Specify the area in which this court is located.
10. Ext. Area Fee ($) – Specify any additional fees to be added when working with this court; the fee will be added when the work order is processed.
11. Deadline Price ($) – Enter a price to add to the work order during processing if the deadline for that work order is not met. This should be the same price that was specified when the area you selected was defined through Area Maintenance.
12. Guarantee for Filing – Check this box if a guarantee for filing with this court is needed.
13. Is Active – Check this box if this court is currently active.
The bottom section of the Court Maintenance Details page allows you to specify the court's closing times and your company's deadline times for each business day of the week.

l4. Closing – Use the pull-down menus to specify the closing times for each business day of the week for the court.
15. Company Deadline – Use the pull-down menus to specify by what time your company requires a work order with that court completed.

16. Click on the SAVE button to create the new court code. Click on the CANCEL button to discard your changes.
EditEdit an Existing Court Code
1. Select a court code to edit.
There are two ways in which you can select a court code:
- From the Court Maintenance page - if you are viewing the list of court codes, click on the "Edit" link for that court code.
- From the Court Maintenance Details page - if you are viewing the details for a court code, click on the EDIT DETAILS button on that page.
The Court Maintenance Details page will appear.
2. Make changes as necessary. Refer to the section "Add a Court Code" for an explanation of each of the input fields.
3. Click on the UPDATE button to save your changes. Click on the CANCEL button to discard your changes.

EditDelete an Existing Court Code
1. Select a court code to delete. Refer to the section "Edit a Court Code" on how to select a code.
2. The Court Maintenance Details page will appear. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
3. Click on the DELETE button to remove the court code from the LegalSuite database.
4. You will be asked to confirm that you wish to delete the code. Click on "OK".
5. The code will be deleted from the LegalSuite database. It will no longer be seen on the Court Maintenance page.
